HIPPO MSO™ Methylated Seed Oil Spray Adjuvant

HIPPO MSO™ is ProGreen Ag’s premium methylated seed oil adjuvant, engineered to dissolve tough leaf cuticles, improve droplet adhesion, and drive active ingredients deep into target foliage. Formulated for demanding post-emergence herbicide applications and drought-stressed crop conditions, HIPPO MSO™ delivers maximum spray penetration when standard surfactants fall short.

What is HIPPO MSO™

HIPPO MSO™ belongs to ProGreen Ag’s specialized spray adjuvant line, formulated with high-quality methylated seed oil and select emulsifiers to overcome heavy leaf wax barriers. When applying post-emergence herbicides under hot, dry, or dusty field conditions, plant cuticles thicken naturally—causing standard water-based droplets to bounce off or dry out before absorption occurs. HIPPO MSO™ solves this challenge by softening cuticular wax for superior chemical uptake. By replacing traditional crop oil concentrates (COC) and standard non-ionic surfactants, HIPPO MSO™ lowers surface tension while extending droplet drying time. This gives contact and systemic herbicide chemistries the necessary time and contact area to achieve complete leaf penetration, ensuring consistent weed knockdown across every spray pass.

Label, analysis and application guidance

Guaranteed formulation standards, active oil concentrations, carrier volume ratios, and tank-mixing sequence protocols apply only when ProGreen Ag label directions are followed for approved crop programs.

Current label guidance is available on request.

MSO application rates vary based on crop canopy density, environmental stress factors, and specific herbicide partner guidelines. Request official label guidance to verify exact rates per acre or per 100 gallons.

Questions to confirm before use

  1. 01

Is a Methylated Seed Oil (MSO) specifically recommended or permitted on your herbicide label?

  2. 02

Have you evaluated crop safety margins under high temperature or high humidity conditions?

  3. 03

Is your carrier water temperature and mixing order aligned for proper oil-in-water emulsification?

Questions about HIPPO MSO™

What is HIPPO MSO™ and when should it be used?

HIPPO MSO™ is a methylated seed oil concentrate combined with high-grade emulsifiers. It is used primarily with post-emergence herbicides when target weeds are mature, waxy, drought-stressed, or difficult to penetrate with standard non-ionic surfactants.

How does HIPPO MSO™ differ from traditional Crop Oil Concentrates (COC)?

Methylated Seed Oils like HIPPO MSO™ offer greater leaf cuticle penetration and faster absorption rates compared to petroleum-based Crop Oil Concentrates. This allows for improved efficacy, particularly under adverse weather conditions or reduced water carrier volumes.

Can HIPPO MSO™ cause crop leaf burn?

Because MSO adjuvants are potent penetrants, applying HIPPO MSO™ during periods of extreme heat, high humidity, or on tender crop foliage can increase t

What is the standard use rate for HIPPO MSO™?

Recommended rates generally range from 1 to 2 pints per acre, or 0.5% to 1.0% v/v (1 to 2 quarts per 100 gallons of spray solution), depending on the herbicide label recommendations and target weed species.
